Phoenix Choir set for Ayr

A WORLD-FAMOUS choir is coming back to Ayr – to raise cash for the Ayrshire Hospice.

The Glasgow Phoenix Choir sung in a town hall concert last year, which raised £3500.

And next month they will be in concert in Ayr St Columba Church, in another event organised by Ayr and Prestwick Friends of the Ayrshire Hospice.

Choir president and soloist Janette Walker has a poignant personal reason to support the hospice, as her late husband Graham spent his final days there.

Generous sponsorship from Co-operative Funeralcare is allowing the choir to support worthy causes like the hospice.

And the friends’ group are delighted the Phoenix Choir will return, to present A Festival of Song.

Choir accompanist and assistant conductor Cameron Murdoch is thrilled at the prospect of using the recently-refurbished church organ.

The concert is on Saturday, February 20 at 7.30pm.Tickets, £7.50, are on sale now from Mackay Music in Cathcart Street, Ayr, from Ayr Hospice Fundraising Office in Miller Road, online at thebooth.co.uk
