Xtreme emotion

I’M secretly glad that the X Factor final is over.

I’ve enjoyed this series but I have to admit, I turned into a bit of an emotional wreck on Saturday night.

It might have been the build-up or the fact that winner, Alexandra Burke, spent a lot of the night in floods of tears.

Then, I was tipped over the edge of both my couch and my emotions, as pop idol Beyonce appeared like some sort of festive angelic vision. That was it, I was inconsolable.

And I know that is ridiculous but I’m sure, like me, the other 14.6 million viewers watching were in the same mess as me.

We all know the record company bosses and Simon Cowell are the real winners and comedy mock shows such as Peter Kay are quite right to mock the sob stories that accompany the winner.

But I love it and yes, I was rooting for the girl from the council estate who was sent packing three years ago but didn’t give up and is now set to become a superstar.

Hallelujah.

Now, we’ve just got the Strictly Come Dancing final to go this weekend and perhaps, life will get back to some sort of balance.

But it will be tissues at the ready again for me.
