David Millar's on golden form

IRVINE Athletic Club veteran David Millar took gold in the 3000m as Ayrshire Harriers’ held their second open track and field meeting at Dam Park on Wednesday.

The senior star led from start to finish, crossing the line in nine minutes, 11 seconds, with club counterpart Alex Allardyce second in 9 minutes 49 seconds. Kilmarnock’s James Wales was third in 10 minutes eight seconds.

Both Irvine and North Ayrshire AC were well represented in all events, although conditions were blustery and cold for this time of year.

Irvine U15 star Caitlin Lee won the long jump and came second in the 200m. North Ayrshire U11 duo Logan Craig and Jack Frew both won their 80m sprint heats and finished 1st and 3rd respectively in the long jump. Logan also picked up third place in the 600m race.

Lawrence McMahon won the U13 200m and was fourth in the 800m race - the highest Ayrshire placing.
