Double triumph for Irvine Athletic's John

IRVINE Athletic Club’s John McGarry, left, shows off the two gold medals he won at the Scottish Masters Indoor Track Championships at Glasgow’s Kelvin Hall.

John powered to victory in the Over 55s 60m, breaking the tape in an impressive 8.20 seconds and followed that with another win in the 200m with a time of 27.06.

The popular Irvine AC President shares his experience of competitive athletics with the local club’s youngsters when he takes them for coaching on a Tuesday and Thursday evening.
