THE Scottish Cross Country Championships were held at Callander Park and Irvine AC had a good turnout of young athletes.
U13 boys Gordon Wilson, Chris Jenks from Arran and Kian Douglas were in the 3200m race where Gordon finished 40th in 13 minutes 13 seconds, Chris 44th in 13.19 and Kian 75th 14.40.
In the U13 girls 3200m race Aimee Kerr finished 104th in 19.00, Lauren Hollis 105th 19.04 and Ashley Lawson 112th in 21.37.
All the girls were running in their very first National Cross Country event and will improve for next year.
In the U15 girls 4.2km race Paige Douglas finished 77th in 18.35, Alison Hughes 85th in 19.68 and Stephanie Dalgoutte 99th in 20.03. U17 girl Sarah Munn had the best result of the day finishing 10th in a good time of 17.54 for the 4.8km course and U17 Boy Lee Wilson also put in a good performance, coming from 45th in the first lap of the 6.4km race to finish 26th in a time of 25.08.
Overall the results were not to bad considering the high quality and with entries of over 100 in each race there is also room for improvement.
