Irvine AC's Demi shows them the road home

THREE young members of Irvine Athletic Club braved the cold on Friday, January 2 to take part in the annual Beith Road Races.

The U11s race is over a distance of 1600m and U11 girl Demi Orr won the event in fine form, crossing the line in six minutes 22 seconds.

In the U13 girls' race Jill Taylor finished sixth in a good time of 8.54 while, in the U15 girls race, Allison Hughes came fourth also in a good time of 8.01.

It was good to see these young girls competing and hopefully more will turn out and support these events in the future.

The final North Ayrshire Schools race will be run at Irvine Beach Park on Saturday, January 10.

The first race is at 11am, registration at the Magnum Centre.
