Ballochmyle are Ayrshire golf club champions

BALLOCHMYLE won the Ayrshire club champions title over their home course on Sunday.

In glorious sunny weather, 60 of Ayrshire's best club golfers, representing 20 clubs, competed for the R.L. Crawford Trophy, with the best two scratch scores from three counting towards the team total.

Ballochmyle now represent Ayrshire in the Scottish Club Championship final at Falkirk Tryst on Sunday, September 25.

l THE Ayrshire Champion of Champions Trophy has reached the quarter final stages.

Euan McKinnon (Corrie) beat Barry O'Rourke (Kilbirnie Place) 4&3 and now hosts John Sloan (Doon Valley) who beat Robert Marshall (Beith) by the same margin.

A 4&2 away win over Alan Connery (Irvine) gave Scott Brown (Turnberry) home advantage over Steven McEwan (Caprington) who was a 6&5 winner against Tom Reid (Stewarton).

Adam Sweeney (Routenburn) had a walkover against Stephen Murray (Welbeck) and now hosts Gary Bryden (Girvan) who beat Ricky Tait (The Chase) 9&7.

John Haggarty (Loudoun) had a one hole win away to Craig Robertson (Abbotsford) to set up a tie against his clubmate and title holder Tommy McInally who received a walkover from Wullie McGill (Ballochmyle).

All quarter finals are due for completion by July 31 with the semi finals at Royal Troon on Friday, August 5.
