GLENAFTON have made an offer for exciting young Irvine Vics right winger Bobby Colligan who has impressed recently, especially when playing against teams from a higher level.
Meanwhile central defender Liam Gourlay, who played in the in the same Kilwinning Rangers U19s squad as Colligan before joining the junior ranks with Ardeer Thistle, where he scored two goals in 18 appearances, has signed on at Victoria Park. Gourlay was with Dalry Thistle at the start of the season and, apart from being a welcome addition to the squad, could be the ideal replacement for Lee Hunter who left for Australia last week.
A 44th minute Steven McAvoy goal was enough to give Vics a 1-0 win over Dalry in a friendly at Greenwood on Saturday.
There were fears that keeper Allan McIlroy, who had to come off during the match, had suffered a suffered a fractured wrist, but thankfully it is just badly strained and everybody at the club wishes him a speedy recovery.
Weather permitting Vics hope to get back on the winning trail when they visit Ardeer Thistle on league business on Saturday.
It’s a big game for the Stevenston side too, who have hit a bit of a slump with defeats from bottom clubs Darvel and Craigmark and a home draw with Annbank in their last three games.
Ardeer look like being without Scott Reid who was shown a straight red card in the Annbank match.
