DAVID Millar was once again crowned Ayrshire 10k champion after he literally ran away with last week's Land o' Burns 10k road race.
The event doubled up as the Ayrshire 10k championship for 2012 and it was another victory for Irvine Athletic Club's Millar who, as usual, led from start to finish and crossed the line in a time of 32 minutes 43 seconds.
Runner up was Kerry Liam Wilson of Cambuslang in 33.20 and third was Iain Connell of Kilmarnock in 34.45.
Irvine’s George Irving continued his recent good form to take seventh place in 36.34 with Mark Livingston also having a good run to finish 10th in 38.04.
Mike Flinn completed the Irvine AC finishers in 46th place in 44.40 and had the added bonus of becoming the Ayrshire M60 champion.
Bob Nicol was pleased with his 37.01 at the Saugh Hill race at Girvan. This gave him 16th place for the tough 4.5k course which has 265m of climb.
In-form George Irving won the Lochwinnoch 9k road race on Saturday, while clubmate sJim White also took first place in the Vet 60 event.
Times were 31.40 and 38.00 respectively in very hot conditions over a and the new course which is exceptionally hilly for the first few miles and the results see a long tradition of Irvine winners from the 80s being maintained.
