Thai Boxing: Stevie's the daddy

IRVINE Thai boxer Stevie Brown has double reason to celebrate after winning the 60kg Scottish championship title and becoming a dad for the first time.

The Bourtreehill battler, who has 15 professional bouts under his belt, stopped Paisley’s Robin Downer by total knock out in the second round of their five round fight in Hamilton to be crowned champion.

Stevie, 26, who trains under Alan Currie at the Wossabama Gym in Ayr, dominated the contest from the first bell and an elbow followed by a barrage of skilfully placed knees left Downer unable to continue following an eight count.

The win came just two weeks after daughter Mirran was born. and, said trainer Alan Currie: “Stevie had to juggle training for the fight with his job as a painter and the constant duties a new born baby brings so he did fantastically well.”
