IT was a Merry Christmas for Irvine Athletic Club's David Millar as he ran away with the annual Turkey Trot at Ayr Seafront on Boxing Day.
The event, which was organised by Ayrodynamic Triathlon Club, attracted a fantastic turn-out of 375 runners and Millar, who was competing in the 10k race, led the 279 finishers home in a time of 31 minutes five seconds, a full minute ahead of second-placed Stephen Wylie of Girvan AC.
Ayr Seaforth's Toni McIntosh was first female, finishing eighth overall in 34.32.
Other Irvine finishers in the 10k race were: 7 Patrick Cullinane 34.26; 9 Tony McKnight 34.37 and second male vet; 14. Billy Richardson 35.15; 17 Colin Miller 35.40 and first male super vet;
A total of 96 runners crossed the line in the 5k race which was won by Ross Bark (Ron Hill Cambuslang) in 17.10 with Ayrodynamic's Andrew Rae second in 18.24.
First woman home was Irvine AC's Sarah Munn who was third overall 18.39.
