Lorry driver killed in road crash

A man has died after the lorry he was driving crashed on a city bypass, according to police.

The Mercedes HGV was involved in a collision on the A720 Edinburgh city bypass at the Lothianburn junction on the westbound carriageway at 11.40pm on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old driver died at the scene.

No other vehicles or people were involved in the incident.

A section of the westbound carriageway of the bypass was closed for four hours while emergency services attended the scene and police carried out an investigation.
