Elderly man injured in crash dies

A 90-year-old driver has died six days after he was involved in a two-car crash, police said.

The man sustained chest injuries as a result of the collision on the A977 at Blairingone in Perth and Kinross on February 17.

He was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital after the crash and died on Saturday.

The red Ford Ka he was driving collided with a silver Renault Megane at 4.30pm last Sunday and the man and woman in the Megane suffered minor injuries.

A police spokesman said: "The adult male driver of the Ford Ka sustained a chest injury and was later admitted to hospital. Sadly the driver's condition has since deteriorated and he died on Saturday 23 February 2013."

Enquiries into the circumstances of the collision are being carried out and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Tayside Police ask that anyone with information about this incident to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
