A chef who was jailed after he infected his lover with the HIV virus has appealed against his sentence, it has been confirmed.
Mark Devereaux was diagnosed with the virus in 1994 but went on to have unprotected sex with four different women. One of his victims was later diagnosed with the virus when she was three months pregnant while the three other women escaped infection.
The mother-to-be chose to have an abortion after she found out she had the virus. Last month Devereaux was jailed for 10 years and his name was added to the sex offenders' register.
