Clare is new student leader at James Watt

CLARE Lydon is the new president of the Student Association at James Watt College in Kilwinning.

Clare, 26, from Irvine, captured more than 50 per cent of the vote in the election.

As president, Clare – who is studying holistic therapy – will work with the college to continually improve the service offered to students.

She will attend the college’s Board of Management meetings and have a pivotal role within the campus.

Clare said: “I want to get started right away. I see so much potential for the college and its students.

“During my election campaign, I spoke to as many students as I could and have some really great ideas for the year ahead.

“As well as focusing on the learning experience at the college, I really want to get the students’ association involved in the local community “

The turnout for the poll was more than 1400 and demonstrated the college’s commitment to engaging the students in decision-making.
