A TINY baby born four months prematurely is desperately fighting for life in hospital – inside a Tesco FREEZER BAG.
Little Alex Fisher — born on Wednesday dangerously underweight at 1lb 4oz — needs help to be kept warm so medics have covered her in bubble wrap and she is being kept alive in an incubator with a ventilator to aid her breathing.
Mum Alison Motherwell, 26, from Kilwinning, now living in Plymouth, said: “I knew they were going to wrap her in bubble wrap and keep her inside a bag to help keep her warm and her skin moist.
“But I thought it would be a hospital-issue bag so when I found out it was from Tesco, I was in stitches. At the end of the day, I don’t care where the bag’s from — as long as it works.”
Holiday park worker Alison now lives with security guard Graham Fisher in Cornwall.
Alison’s mum Sally Ann, who is still living in Kilwinning, said: “I couldn’t believe my ears when Alison said she’s stuck inside a freezer bag — like the ones you use for sandwiches.
“I’ve never heard the like.”
Derriford Hospital yesterday confirmed they’d used Tesco bags to save the lives of THREE premature tots this year alone.
