TWO Kilwinning Academy pupils have proved to be talented poets after winning a Burns competition held in the school.
Pupils Rachel Melrose and Devon McCartney had to write poems in the style of the Scottish Bard.
Fourth year pupil Rachel wrote a poem about a Greetin’ Wean.
Meanwhile, second year pupil Devon penned several verses about his Ma’s Mince Pie. Both pupils were given a gift token and plaque for their award winning recitals.
English teacher at the school, Lesley Wright, who organised the competition said: “We had a great response, Burns is very popular in the school.
“Both Rachel and Devon obviously put a lot of effort into their entries and were very deserving winners.”
