Online help launched for local charities

Google has launched an online scheme to help 30,000 British charities raise their profile.

The ‘Grow Your Charity Online’ initiative will provide free training and tools for charities and comprises an online learning hub, specialised training, workshops and live events.

For the first time in the UK, charities will have free access to online services such as advertising and the use of business apps.

The initiative aims to bridge internet skills gap and help charities to harness the power of the internet to extend their reach, strengthen their fundraising and boost their volunteer base.

Labour MP Brian Donohoe said: “All charities in the UK are eligible for this free help.

“Google will travel across the UK during 2013 to meet with charities face-to-face and will also host a regular series of online educational events, allowing charities to join online advice sessions.”
