Scotland’s national basketball team set up home in North Ayrshire at the weekend.
The team took advantage of St Matthew’s Academy and the state-of-the-art fitness centre at Maximum Potential in Stevenston.
The Scottish girls’ squad went through their paces first, developing their skills at St Matthew’s and also took part in high-intensity fitness training at Maximum Potential.
While training for the European Basketball Championships, the team were more than happy to pass on their advice to a group of Ardrossan Academy pupils from the school of basketball.
Councillor Tony Gurney visited the training camp and said: “The Scotland squad’s decision to train in the area is recognition of the quality of the facilities and the support we provide here. In turn their presence gives a huge boost to the sport in North Ayrshire. The Scotland girls gave huge encourage-ment to the young pupils invited from the school of basketball – not to mention giving them a memento with a signed basketball.”
