One of North Ayrshire’s popular bus routes is set for major changes.
The number 11 bus route is set to have upgraded traffic signals and pedestrian crossings.
Work on the popular route that runs through Ardrossan, Saltcoats, Stevenston, Pennyburn, Kilwinning, Irvine, Dreghorn, Springside and Kilmarnock, is to start in mid-February and continue until the end of March 2013.
Funding for the work, secured by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT), will be carried out by Peek Traffic Ltd, after a competitive tender process.
Councillor John Ferguson, Cabinet Member for Infrastructure and Environment, said the council hopes to improve the critical link:
“This project forms part of the council’s commitment to improving public transport links, road safety and the condition of our roads,” said John.
