This week we ask successful Irvine businesswoman Alison McKenzie, co-owner of Small Talk Coffee Shop, about her life and loves.
Why do you do what you do?
I enjoy cooking and baking and having been a dinner lady, Anne Ritchie and myself decided to take on our own coffee shop. And people seem to like what we make.
Do you have a best friend?
I am very fortunate that I have a lot of really good friends but I would have to say my mum.
What’s your favourite song?
Anything at all by The Dixie Chicks, I was a line dancing teacher and I enjoy their music.
What three items would you take to a desert island with you?
Oh, it would have to be my straighteners as I have curly hair that would be out of control with the heat; my partner David and my Kindle, I love a good read.
Do you have any regrets?
No, I don’t see the point in having regrets, you choose certain paths and life takes you where it will, you have to make the most of it.
