Ex-squaddie Scott Brown is set to use his military training to start a new bootcamp fitness club for KIDS.
Scott, 30, spent nine years in the Army and runs adult bootcamps throughout Ayrshire.
He takes his fitness so seriously he finished first in the gruelling UK Tough Mudder event last year and was placed 11th in the world at the worldwide competition in the States too.
And he was inspired by local kids who stood on the sidelines of his adult bootcamps, to start one for them in North Ayrshire.
“I was often approached by local kids who would ask if they could take part and I had to say no,but this got me thinking about a new venture, said Scott.
“Childhood obesity is a concern for this country and I wanted to get involved, do my bit and make sure kids in this area have the chance to have fun at bootcamp but get fit at the same time too.
“So I decided to launch a new outdoor bootcamp designed specifically for kids.”
The busy dad-of-two is launching his kids bootcamp on Sunday January 20 at Dundonald Castle car park.
It will be open to children aged six to eight-years-old from 9.30am to 10.20am; nine to 13-year-olds from 10.30am to 11.20 am and 13 to 16-year-olds from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
Scott explained that his years of training in the army has taught him the importance of team work and support and these are qualities that he hopes to pass on to the kids at the camp.
He went on: “I’m hoping that as well as getting the groups fitter and leaner,I will teach them the advantages of working together and supporting each other.
“Everyone will be treated equally and encouraged to support their team mates.
“I hope to build their confidence, self esteem as well as their fitness.”
