The brand new PLAYZ centre in Pennyburn has scooped yet another award for PRYDE.
Pennyburn Regeneration Youth Development Enterprise (PRYDE) won the SURF (Scotland’s independent regeneration network) Awards for Best Practice in Community Regeneration last month at a ceremony in Glasgow’s Radisson Hotel.
The panel included 20 independent judges drawn from national regeneration agencies and community groups.
Project officer at the Playz, Theresa Potter, said: “This award recognises and values the significant impact that communities play within regeneration and is testament to the commitment of the voluntary board and shadow board of directors.
“The community role within the regeneration enables sustainable development whilst redressing the socio-economic indicators prevailing in local communities.”
Former First Minister Jack McConnell officially opened the centre at the beginning of December, praising the residents of Kilwinning who “have long shown a strong community spirit”.
