The mulled wine, the party nibbles, the turkey and all its wonderful trimmings – it is no wonder that the average weight gain over the festive season in the UK is just under half a stone.
While Christmas is a time to relax and celebrate it is safe to say it does no wonders for our waistlines and as many of us would agree the number one New Year resolution soon becomes “I’m going to detox, diet and join the gym.”
As a personal trainer I see it year after year, everyone starts withgreat intentions but soon fall off the fitness wagon and our New You, New Body resolutions fly out the window.
It’s not due to lack of effort, the motivation is there to start with but when the results are not happening after hours and hours of slogging it out on the treadmill we soon fall back into familiar habits.
Achieving your fitness goals doesn’t have to be such hard work.
Personal trainers can make itfun, varied and challengingbut more importantly they will keep you motivated and strive alongside you to achieve those results – no more slogging it out on your own.
From my experience, every client I train with has different goals, needs, commitments and fitness levels and it is important that their training programme reflects this. There is no “one size fits all” exercise programme. People come to me for all sorts of reasons including weight loss, health concerns, lack of motivation, no energy, depression, low self-esteem and stress.
But what they do have in common is that they are ready to make a change and just need a helping hand.
Personal trainers can allow you to exercise at home to fit around the kids, exercise outside to get a break from the office, train with a group of friends to keep it fun, combat that plateau in your own training and chap at your door and get you motivated on those days when you just can’t be bothered.
More so, sometimes it is just about having that one or two hours in your week where it is just about you, you are the priority and everything else can just wait.
A personal trainer is qualified in teaching you how to exercise safely, effectively and they will challenge you to be the best you can be in your physical fitness whilst at the same time empowering you with a new found confidence and self-esteem.
The number of clients that say to me during sessions with a rather confused look on their face “I can’t believe I actually enjoy exercise now!” never fails to make me smile.
