Last year’s Provost’s Civic Pride Awards and Charity Dinner proved such an overwhelming success that all of the Award sponsors were eager to sign up for the 2013 event.
The generous sponsors – Cunninghame Housing Association, Irvine Housing Association, ANCHO, KA Leisure and Marley Contract Services – were more than happy to support the event once more and help recognise the dedicated groups and selfless individuals who do so much for North Ayrshire.
Last year, 133 local heroes, active community groups, young citizens, aspiring sportsmen and women, talented local artists and inspirational volunteers were nominated across five award categories.
With nominations for the 2013 awards now open, Provost Joan Sturgeon is encouraging local people to let the world know about those who make a real difference in their communities.
Provost Sturgeon said: “I am delighted by the response we have had from our sponsors. They were incredibly keen to support us in recognising the people of North Ayrshire and signed up to sponsor the awards straight away.
“We certainly do not struggle to find worthy candidates in North Ayrshire. Last year’s Civic Pride Awards highlighted the wealth of talent and commitment we have here in North Ayrshire as well as the huge number of individuals and groups who work tirelessly to improve their local communities.
“I believe there are even more who deserve to be nominated and would encourage local people to make sure that those who make a real difference in their communities are given the credit they deserve.”
Nominations can be made by filling out the nomination form on this page and returning it to Communications Team, Chief Executive’s Service, North Ayrshire Council, Cunninghame House, Irvine KA12 8EE
Nomination forms are also available online, at your local school and from a variety of North Ayrshire Council offices including libraries, community centres and local area offices.
Provost Sturgeon added: “Although the awards are now sponsored, there are still many ways that local businesses can support the event – including taking tables at the Charity Dinner, donating raffle prizes and auction items.”
The Civic Pride Awards and Charity Dinner will be held at Seamill Hydro on March 15 and continues to focus on the people of North Ayrshire – from local people nominating and voting, local business supporting the event and local people benefitting from the supported charities – Cash for Kids and The Butterfly Club.
