Newlyweds do charity a favour

Instead of giving guests traditional favours on their big day, newlyweds Leanne and Mark Cardle donated £200 to Ayrshire charity, The Anthony O’Brien Quinn Memorial Trust, also known as The AQ Trust.

Leanne and Mark presented charity trustee and founder of the charity, Janice Quinn, with a cheque after their ceremony on Saturday, November 17, at The Gailes Hotel in Irvine.

Leanne said: “Janice is a family friend and work colleague and since the Trust was launched I’ve seen the way it’s been able to help people and make a difference to their lives.

“Mark and I thought it would be good idea to swap the usual favours for a donation to such a worthwhile cause helping people in North Ayrshire.”

Proud Janice, who set the charity up in memory of her son Anthony, was overwhelmed by the couple’s generosity.

She said: “When Leanne told me she was donating £200 to the Trust instead of giving guests favours I was delighted.

“It was lovely of them to think of the Trust.

“And it’s such a nice touch and really generous of Leanne and Mark.

“I would like to say a very big thank you to the new Mr and Mrs Cardle.

The AQ Trust was set up by Irvine Housing Association’s Janice and Pat Quinn and staff at Irvine Housing Association in memory of Pat and Janice’s son, Anthony, who died suddenly in 2010.

The charity will be offering crisis support and practical help to people throughout Ayrshire.

The Trust’s customers will primarily be individuals facing or experiencing crisis situations relating to their housing.

Services will be aimed at ensuring customers will be in a position to sustain a home in the long-term.
