Kilwinning cemetery to undergo makeover

Work is to be carried out in Kilwinning Cemetery next month.

The work will involve repairs to the boundary and internal walls, sections of which require to be taken down and rebuilt.

And to carry out the work, a number of headstones in Section D and N will be taken down during the six week project that begins on Monday, January 7.

But this week North Ayrshire Council say they will be re-instated with new foundations once the work is carried out.

A spokesman for North Ayrshire Council said: “Contractors working on behalf of the Council will handle headstones with the utmost care.

“Should you wish to discuss any aspect of this work please contact North Ayrshire Council on 0845 603 0594.

“North Ayrshire Council apologises for any inconvenience during this work.

“Any disruption will be kept to a minimum and will cease during funeral services.”
