George Stevens, 58, runs Ayrshire Tattoo Studio in Irvine’s High Street.
He has been a tattoo artist for 32 years.
Why do you do what you do?
I love the art of tattooing. You give people the chance to have a permanent piece of art on their body.
I can’t imagine doing anything else with my life.
What’s your favourite song?
Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits; I have loved that song for a long time.
Who has been your greatest influence?
That would have to be my papa, he was the man who taught me how to draw.
I am also influenced by tattoo artists, including my colleague, Jay Coppella.
Any regrets?
No regrets. If I had to do it all over again, I would follow the same path.
Who would be your ideal dinner guest?
I wouldn’t care who it was, as long as they don’t outstay their welcome.
What three items would you take to a desert island?
My family, especially my grandson, Jack. My Kindle and a piano. I can’t play piano but I bet I would have a lot of time to learn.
Do you have a best friend?
I am tempted to say my pet dog – but it would have to be my wife of 27 years, Pamela.
