COUNCIL HOLD STRAIGHT TALKING SESSIONS

Community radio station Irvine Beat FM spoke up about the volunteers’ work at a straight talking session hosted by North Ayrshire Council last week.

They were among a number of community groups invited to the latest session hosted by NAC.

Irvine Beat Fm gave presentations about the work they do in the community and the challenges facing voluntary organisations.

The day involved workshops covering subjects including external funding, volunteering and support from the council.

NAC leader Willie Gibson, said: “It was really encouraging to see the enthusiasm and commitment shown by local groups.

“Ardossan Civic Centre was packed and was buzzing with lots of valuable discussion about the future and making the most of resources.”

He went on to say: “For the past two years the council has held Straight Talking events.

“The feedback from the earlier sessions was that people wanted us to focus on specific topics and to hold regular sessions during the year and that’s what we did.”

There will be more sessions in 2013.
