North Ayrshire Council have been leaving quite a few Irvine residents out in the cold this year.
After we revealed NAC had left an Irvine family with an unrepaired roof for almost three months another family have came forward to the Irvine Herald.
Gillian McNeil and her two children have been waiting for North Ayrshire Council to repair the soffits on their roof since initial repair work took place in June.
Now birds are living in her loft and are terrifying her son so much that he’s afraid to go to bed.
Gillian has had enough of living in a cold house.
“I’ve contacted North Ayrshire Council once or twice a week for the past five or six weeks and I keep getting fobbed off.”
“Sure these guys should be finishing a job that they started.
“It’s like banging your head off of a brick wall trying to get an answer.
Gillian and her two children, Jack, 5, and Kaci, 11, live on Frew Terrace, Irvine.
“I feel for the family that have a child on the way and have had the same trouble that I’ve had.”
“I just want some straight answers - I don’t want to be lied to by the council.”
“The house is freezing because of this mess and we get wakened every morning by birds that are living in the loft.
A spokesperson for North Ayrshire Council said:
“We have a detailed programme of works in place to ensure any missing sections of soffit board are replaced as quickly as possible.
“This work is scheduled to take place at this property by November 9.”
