James Watt students get waxed for charity

Two big-hearted James Watt College students raised over £900 for charity - including a sponsored leg wax

Stephanie McCulloch and Stephanie Meek, both from Irvine, convinced two male friends to endure an excruciating leg wax. The pair also organised a cake sale and a bottle stall and raised £926.65 for the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research.

The HND administration and information technology students organised the events as part of their coursework.

Stephanie said: “My partner Alain attends the Beatson for treatment so I wanted to raise some money to give something back to them for all the wonderful care he has received there.

“We would like to thank the beauty therapy students who helped with the leg waxing and everyone who donated.”

Alain MacDonald and Daniel Morrison raised £600 between them to put towards the total.

“The leg-waxing itself was pretty painful but it was a fun day and helped towards the fantastic amount of money raised,” Alain said.
