A Scottish soap star has been filming in Irvine to raise awareness for Dementia Support Services.
Former River City and Take The High Road star Eileen McCallum was at the Vineburgh Community Centre to raise awareness of improved support services for older people.
The DVD is being produced by the three Ayrshire councils and NHS Ayrshire and Arran to raise awareness of the work that is happening around reshaping care for older people.
One of the support services being offered is a memory cafe that will also make its way to Irvine every month.
Memory cafes are where people with dementia and their carers can visit to support each other and share information.
Irvine’s memory cafe will take place at Vineburgh Community Centre on the fourth Friday of every month from 11am to 12.30pm.
Council spokesperson for health and social care Councillor Anthea Dickson, said:
“Finding out that you or a loved one has dementia can be devastating news. Making people aware of the services that are on offer is vitally important.
“Help, advice and information is available to help people with dementia and their carers,” she added.
