The Scottish Labour leader is set to visit North Ayrshire later this month.
Johann Lamont MSP will be the guest speaker at a women’s meeting hosted by the local Labour Party.
The meeting will take place in the Constituency Labour Club in Saltcoats on Sunday, September 16 at 12.30pm.
On the evening will be an open discussion on policies which affect women.
Johann Lamont, Scottish Labour Leader, says that the Labour movement has a fantastic record of giving a platform to talented women from old backgrounds.
“As leader of theparty, I am proud of our achievements in delivering fairness and equality to women but I am also aware we have much to do to ensure all women are allowed to reach their full potential.”
Local MP Katy Clark is delighted with the arrival of the Scottish Labour leader.
“The Scottish Labour party is going through a process of renewal and this is an opportunity to have an open discussion with local people about Labour’s policies as they effect women.
“All women in North Ayrshire are welcome to attend this meeting and I hope that many will take the opportunity to come along to have their say in the Labour Party’s policy process.
“It’s an important meeting in our calendar and I am delighted that Johann Lamont has taken time out of her busy schedule to take time to come along and speak to the women.”
