S&UN girl has hopes on Miss Universe title
GORGEOUS Melissa Masson is modest about her stunning looks.
But the 25-year-old crimson-haired beauty is proud to fly the flag for Irvine at the Scottish final of the Miss Universe contest later this month at Club Milan in Glasgow.
She will be up against 19 other hopefuls including former Miss Scotland Nieve Jennings on the night.
And Melissa, of Caldon Road, Irvine, who works in the Herald’s customer services department, is hoping readers get behind her to make her dream of securing a place in the national final a reality.
“It’s hard to believe that I’ve been selected, I had actually forgotten that I had applied,” said the stunner.
“I applied on-line and when I got the phone call telling me I was in the final, I couldn’t believe it.
“My boyfriend Nicky was even more excited.”
For her first photoshoot for the Herald, Melissa went along to North Gailes Country Club where she showed off the looks that will be sure to land her the crown.
Melissa’s work colleagues are well and truly behind her.
“Everyone’s been a great support and they’ve been encouraging me all the way,” said Melissa.
And the down-to-earth beauty is hoping to raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation charity.
Stunning Melissa said: “This is a wonderful charity and they help make the wishes of terminally ill children come true and I am hoping that the final will be able to raise a lot of money to help even more dreams come true for them.
“I’m really excited about this part of the competition and hopefully we will raise as much money as possible.”
If Melissa wins the Scottish heat, she will be heading to Birmingham in May for the beauty pageant final.
And she could win prizes of a lifetime including:
l A contract with the Miss Universe Organisation.
l Travelling the globe as Miss Universe.
l And Melissa would also win a luxury apartment in New York.
“It would be a great opportunity and as much as I would love to win the title, I am really looking forward to the final. It will be great to get all dressed up and take part,” said Melissa.
“I really hope readers go on-line or phone up and vote for me, it would be great to bring the crown back home to Ayrshire.”
