Kilwinning dad kills himself after years of bullying.

A KILWINNING dad-of-two took his own life after suffering years of bullying and abuse at work.

Alex Moffat, 45, is said to have died at his home after taking a combination of pills and alcohol.

Friends said the council gardener finally snapped over his heavy workload which he blamed on a vindictive boss.

Pal Gerry Jermond, 52, claimed Alex’s cries for help and reports of bullying were ignored by the council and his health faded as the torment continued.

He said: “It all started about five years ago.

“He was told to cover the whole of the Bourtreehill area himself.

“He was essentially doing the work which eight men had previously helped with.

“He lost all his hair and the doctor said it was down to stress. The effect on him was tremendous.”

Alex is understood to have gone off sick for several months and complained officially on several occasions.

North Ayrshire Council refused to comment.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Alex’s death on October 4.

A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.
