Pennyburn tenants want indpendent advice

PENNYBURN residents have asked for an independent study into the proposed merger of landlords in their area.

At the AGM of the Pennyburn Tenants and Residents Association, TARA, asked Irvine Housing Association for an independent review of the proposed merger with Liverpool based Riverside Group.

Chairwoman of the group, Eileen Kerr said they were not consulted about any changes before news of the merger came out in the Irvine Herald last week.

She said: “We are a strong community here and we are disappointed not to have been asked about our views on this matter.

“We feel that a trust has been broken and we need to know more about Riverside’s policies and any changes to our tenancy agreements.

“Over 50 residents attended the meeting and we have requested an independent review of the situation, which IHA seemed to agree with.”
