Irvine Boy's Brigade hold enrolement night

IRVINE’S biggest Boys’ Brigade company held their annual enrolment night this week with the aim of attracting new and existing members.

The 7th Irvine Company meet in the Girdle Toll Parish Church hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

They undertake lots of different activities for members in the age groups from primary seven right up to 18 years.

Activities include hiking, chess and football as well as the annual summer camps, which next year will be for two weeks at the end of June to Kirkholme near Blackpool.

Company Captain Alan MacAulay said: “There is really something for everyone and every age group. The Boys’ Brigade offers the chance to make new friends, share great experiences and gives the older boys something to put on applications and CVs.

“We’ve got some great activities planned for our new session, not least our annual camp and look forward to welcoming new members.”

The enrolment night is on Thursday, August 27, between 6pm and 8pm. But new members can come along any Tuesday or Thursday.

The Company section meets on Tuesdays between 7pm and 9pm for primary seven to S3 age group and from 8pm to 10pm for the S4 to 18 years old age group.

Anchor Boys for primary two to three meet on Thursdays between 6pm and 7pm and the Junior Section for the primary four to six age group meets between 7.15pm and 8.30pm.

Enrolment costs £10 and the subs are £1 a week with most of the activities subsidised through fund-raising.
