TOWERLANDS Community Centre reopens on Monday, January 5, with the following programme of activities:
MONDAY. Tae Kwon-Do, from 7pm to 9pm; Yoga from 7pm to 8.30pm; Boys’ Youth Club from 7pm to 9pm, activities include sports, music making and DJ skills, health, games and competitions, relationships and much more. Open to all young people from S1 onwards; Jam Street Dance from 4.30pm onwards.
TUESDAY. Guides from 7pm to 9pm.
WEDNESDAY. Community Support Surgery from 10am to 12.30pm; Brownies from 5.45pm to 7.15pm; Girls’ Youth Club from 7pm to 9pm, activities include health, music making and DJ skills, games and competitions, money matters, relationships and much more. Open to all young people from S1 onwards.
THURSDAY. Irvine Tae Kwon-Do, from 7pm to 9pm.
FRIDAY. Starlight Theatre drama class for young people from 5pm to 6.30pm.
LOCAL councillors hold surgeries at Towerlands Community Centre. Times are: Joan Sturgeon, third Monday of the month from 7.15pm to 8pm; Ruby Kirkwood, third Saturday of the month from 11.30am to 12.30pm; Tom Barr, fourth Saturday of the month from 10am to noon; John Moffat, fourth Saturday of the month from 10am to noon (alternating with Tom Barr).
THE EAST Irvine Nursery and After School Care Service is held at Towerlands Community Centre and the adjacent cottages and offers a wide variety of services. During school term time, the nursery meets Monday to Friday from 8.45am to 11.15am and from 12.45pm to 3.15pm. There's also a Breakfast Club from 7.30am to 9am. After-school care is on offer 52 weeks of the year, from 3pm to 6pm during term time and from 8am to 6pm during the school holidays. For details call Jean Owen on 01294 21527
THE ISOMA Martial Arts Class is no longer held at Towerlands Community Centre. However, a class still runs at Castlepark Community Centre on Wednesday evenings from 6.45pm to 7.45pm.
TOWERLANDS Community Centre Cafe is currently closed due to lack of staff. The centre is looking for volunteers to help run the cafe so it can be opened again. If interested contact the centre on 01294 211374.
TOWERLANDS Sports Club has live music on Saturdays from 8pm. There's a karaoke from 8pm on Sunday evenings. Bingo is held in the club every Tuesday, eyes down at 8.15pm. The senior citizens' group meets on Wednesdays at 1pm.
THE BOTHAN Bar holds a quiz and karaoke every Sunday from 5pm. Admission is free, everyone is welcome.
BOURTREEHILL Library opening hours are: Mondays, from 1pm to 5pm and 6pm to 7.30 pm; Tuesdays, from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5.30pm; Wednesdays, closed; Thursdays, from 1pm to 5pm and from 6pm to 7.30pm; Fridays, from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5.30pm; Saturdays, from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5pm. BROOMLANDS and Bourtreehill Community Association is always looking for volunteers who would like to put something back into the community. If you'd like to help, come along to Towerlands Community Centre on the third Thursday of every month. THE CREDIT Union now holds its meetings at Towerlands Farm, instead of the Healthy Living Centre, from 7pm to 9pm on Thursdays.
BROOMLANDS and Bourtreehill Age Concern meet in the Drop-in Centre at the Village Centre every weekday, all senior citizens welcome.
THE AGE Concern Drop-In Centre is looking for volunteers to help out at the centre, if interested call the centre on 01294 212354.
BOURTREEHILL Healthy Living Centre holds a keep fit class at the Lower Vennel Centre from 1.30pm every Wednesday. Aqua Classes at the Magnum run on Thursdays from 2pm to 2.45pm. If you would like to join the light hearted 45-minute class or the swimming group, call Betty Weir on 01294 212354.
THERE is a North Ayrshire Council Surgery on the first Tuesday of each month from noon to 1.30pm at the Healthy Living Centre, Lower Vennel. You can come along and speak to Jean Fields for advice on benefits or council tax. Every Tuesday from 10am to noon the centre holds a Community Support Surgery where you can find out information about the local community.
BINGO is held on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Annick Pavilion, eyes down at 7.30pm. All over 18s welcome.
