OUR children had great fun and learned a lot from a recent visit by Road Safety Officers who involved the children in a wide range of activities that made them think about different aspects of road safety such as how far a car travelled when the brakes were applied.
Everyone is now a lot more knowledgeable and this will, hopefully, mean a lot safer. The school, in a move to enhance our road safety education even further, has applied for funding for resources through Go On Get Out There grants.
l Wednesday November 11, was Dress Down Day for our pupils and all the proceeds went to Ayrshire Hospice. We will let you know the total raised as soon as possible and would like to thank all those who supported this fundraiser.
l Don't forget that Friday, November 13, and Monday, November 16, are holidays so the children can turn over in their beds again rather than have to wake up in the dark.
l Primary 6/5 are developing their basketball skills with expert coaching over the next few weeks so PE kit is essential each Tuesday.
l On Wednesday, November 18, the pupils of Primary 4/3 will be walking to the local parish church to learn more about the building as part of the religious and moral education programme.
Also on November 18, our football team will be playing a match with St Mark's PS. Good luck to the team.
l Thursday, November 19, sees the dental and oral health team descend on the school as the nursery children whose parents wish it, will have fluoride applications on their teeth as part of the Childsmile project.
The evening is also busy as Mrs Richmond's models strut their stuff during our Fashion Show. We would like to thank the staff of Mackays store for all their hard work and enthusiasm, Irvine Royal Academy for providing staging and Mr S McGhie for transporting the staging – what teamwork. Tickets for this event are on sale at the school office.
l Well done to the following Pupils of the Week – James Affleck (Primary 2/1), Paige Chalmers (Primary 3/2), Caitlyn Houston (Primary 4/3), Jack Fitzpatrick (Primary 6/5) and Kerr Boyd (Primary 7/6).
