Woodlands Primary: 17 December 2008

TO ALL parents please note that the school closes on Friday, December 19, at 2.30pm for the Christmas Holidays. The school re-opens on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 9am.

THE CHRISTMAS Concert was a huge success. All the pupils and staff had worked hard to put on an entertaining extravaganza.

P2/3 and P7N performed Junkanoo a Caribbean Christmas Sketch, which included guitars, saxophone and Lynne-Anne’s dance group. P1R and P5G presented the story of Lucy and Tom at Christmas, a traditional story. Pupils from P7N wrote and produced Naughty Nibbles and Satnav Santa with the morning and afternoon Nursery. P3B and P6S told the story of the Three Trees, an American Folk Tale. P1M and P4H enacted the Christmas Presents to the music of Peer Gynt. P2N and P6G finished the show with an exciting episode of the Xmas Factor. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed performing in front of a packed hall for both shows. Thanks to the pupils, parents, staff and ’backroom’ workers in the school, the concert was brilliant.

MRS NICOL and a school choir entertained the shoppers in Irvine Mall singing Christmas Carols to raise money for Hansel.

THE PUPILS enjoyed a lovely Christmas Lunch with all the trimmings thanks to the hard work of Anne and the kitchen staff.

P4H-A HUGE well done to Stewart who won Highly Commended in P4-7 category of the North Ayrshire Education Resource Service Poetry Competition. He won an Alien poetry book.

P6G-Won the Wasp Award for the Senior Department for good class behaviour. The class will enjoy an extra playtime. Thank you to Nicole and Holly for collating Class Chat.

THE SCHOOL will be holding an auction early in the New Year.

Hang on to those unwanted presents we can use them to raise funds for the school. Seasons Greeting and a good New Year to all from Woodlands.
