Pupils on song at sing-along

PUPILS from Greenwood Academy helped break a world record by joining in with a nationwide sing-along last week.

The school’s Atrium shook to the sounds of Des’ree hit You Gotta Be as S1 youngsters sang in perfect unison with 500,000 pupils from 3295 UK schools as part of the Big Sing event.

Audio of their effort was beamed live into a concert held at the O2 Arena, London.

Everyone who took part was asked to donate £1 with the total split between Marie Curie Cancer Care and Clic Sargent.

The singalong dwarfed the previous record of 293,978 set in 2005.
