NHS Ayrshire and Arran have been awarded multiple mental health awards.
The prestigious Mental Health Forum Awards were announced on Friday, December 14, at University of the West of Scotland Hamilton campus, with Ayrshire and Arran staff picking up four awards outright.
Winning the Dementia care award was Janice McAlister from Mental Health Services, for ‘promoting excellence - improving dementia care’
The award for Acute care went to David McGill, Tracey McMahon, Mick Fleming, Derek Barron, Colin Martin and Alan Donnell for the development of training in work-based psychological interventions.
In the same category, the Scottish Recovery Indicator (SRI) Steering Group were highly commended for their work.
Their was joint winners from NHS Ayrshire and Arran for the Community Mental Health Nursing. East Ayrshire’s Community Mental Health Team were honoured for their recovery and wellbeing initiative.
Joint winner Carol-Ann Swanson, community mental health worker, accepted the award for the ABCD early years asset-based project.
Associate Nurse Director – Mental Health Services, Derek Barron, NHS Ayrshire and Arran, said:
“As a member of the Mental Health Forum, as well as a nurse working in NHS Ayrshire and Arran, I am very proud to see local staff featuring in these awards.”
