Irvine might be without Christmas lights this year, but there’s one local group that is trying to bring some festive cheer to the town.
Irvine Action have organised a ‘Best Dressed’ window competition for local traders in Irvine.
Christmas shoppers can pop into the local retailers and cast a vote for the best window display - each vote will also be entered into a free prize draw too.
Friends of Marymass have sponsored the competition - donating a Christmas hamper for the winner of the free prize draw.
Gordon Bain, Community Councillor and member of Irvine Action, said:
“Irvine Action are always looking for ways in which we can help support the local community. So when we found out that no Christmas lights were going to be put up this year we knew we had to try and help out however we could.
“This type of competition is something everyone can join in with. And hopefully over the coming months we can work together with the council and other community groups to ensure we have lights up in the town next year,” he added.
Eighteen local retailers are set to take part in the Christmas competition – so keep an eye on the following retailers’ windows over the coming weeks.
The Meridian Room, RS McColls, Fairways Sports, Aldo’s Café, Oor Wullies Furniture Shop, Brownings the Bakers, ANM Barbers, Stephen Rowe Opticians, Pet World, Café Café, Billy the Barbers, W Duncan & Son Butchers, Tricia’s Takeaway, K&R Textiles, King World Travel, British Heart Foundation, Harrison Hair Salon and Marion Bennett Hair are all set to take part in the competition.
