Professional dancer Laila Mitcenko is on a mission – to make sure people in North Ayrshire know their Cha Cha Cha from their Samba.
The Latvian-born dancer is an expert in all forms of Latin American dance, and and all she asks is that people come to class with an open mind and a willingness to learn.
Over the next few weeks she will be teaching Samba, Cha Cha Cha, Jive and Waltz at The Studio in Saltcoats.
“I gave up dancing professionally to have my wee boy, but I was keen to teach people what I know,” said Laila.
“Everyone who has come to class has done really well and I am enjoying teaching.”
Laila is hoping to teach youngsters as she started her training when she was only six.
“I had to work hard but I love to dance and it became my life,” said Laila. “I would like to return to dancing professionally one day, but for now I enjoy teaching.”
As for her favourite dance? “That has to be the Paso Doble,” said Laila.
Strictly Come Dancing with Laila takes place at The Studio on Wednesday nights from 7pm to 8pm.
